Richard Grissom is a proud lifelong resident of Tulare, where he attended Roosevelt School, Mulcahy Middle School, and Tulare Western High School. His mother was a dedicated school secretary at Lincoln Elementary with Tulare City School District. Richard is also a proud parent of two children who attended Tulare City Schools and Tulare Union High School and has a grandchild currently enrolled in the Tulare City School District. As a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, Richard has a strong, personal connection to the community and its educational institutions.

Richard began his career as an installation technician with Pacific Bell and AT&T, which eventually inspired him to start his own local business, Grissom & Wallace Communications. After more than 30 years of dedicated service, he has since retired.

His dedication to his community is reflected in his active and past participation in numerous local organizations and initiatives, including the Parent-Teacher Associations of Kohn School, Cherry Ave Middle School, and Live Oak Middle School; Tulare Union High School Band Boosters; Tulare Elks Club; Visalia Elks Club where he served as Chair of the Americanism Committee; Tulare City Chamber of Commerce; Knights of Columbus; World Ag Expo Volunteer; Big Brothers Big Sisters Volunteer; and the High School Redistricting Committee.
