Melissa's career in healthcare spans over four decades. She was Director of Education and Infection Prevention at Tulare Regional Medical Center from 1978 to 2013. She then worked as the Infection Prevention Manager at Kaweah Delta Healthcare District from 2013 to 2018. Currently, she offers her expertise as an Independent Infection Prevention Consultant. Melissa is committed to continuous learning and professional development, attending California School Boards Association (CSBA) conferences annually and participating in Tulare County School Boards Association conferences. She also holds a CSBA Masters in Governance, graduating with the Class of 2003.

Tulare County Committee on School District Organization: Melissa serves as the Vice-Chairman, playing a key role in district organization matters.
Tulare Lighthouse Rescue Mission Board: Served on the board from 2018 to 2022, contributing to the support of vulnerable populations in the community.
Comprehensive School Wellness Committee: Member from 2000 to 2013, advocating for the health and wellness of students.
Soroptimist International: Member from 2001 to 2014, supporting the empowerment of women and girls.
Community and School Activities: Actively involved in the Encore Theater, various school sports, booster clubs, and activities during her children's school years.
