Independent Study Enrollment Options
Tulare City School District offers alternative programs for education for your child through two Independent Study Options.
Short Term Independent Study:
- For students who cannot attend in-person learning for a period of up to 15 cumulative school days.
- The school site oversees this Short Term Independent Study option.
- Work is gathered and corrected by the teacher of record.
- Parents request Short Term Independent Study through their school site.
- A maximum of 15 days of Short Term Independent Study is permitted each school year.
Long-Term Independent Study:
- For students who cannot attend in-person learning for an extended period, structured for a year-long commitment.
- Students complete all work through the Edgenuity Platform with Instructional Support provided through the program. (a minimum of 4 hours of independent work is required each day)
- Starting for the 2025-2026 school year:
- Offered only for grades 6-8
- Students will be required to meet in person with the teacher once a week at Mission Valley School.
