Traditional Kindergarten (K)

Kindergarten is a joyful and pivotal time in your child’s life. At Tulare City School District, we create a nurturing environment where children grow socially, emotionally, and academically. As they build independence and self-confidence, our students also explore creativity and discover a love for learning. While building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, our educators introduce students to a world of ideas—preparing them to become thoughtful, curious, and capable leaders.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a unique, developmentally appropriate program designed to bridge the preschool and kindergarten years. TK gives younger children an extra year to grow in confidence, maturity, and foundational skills. Following California Senate Bill 1381, TK is offered to children who turn five between September 2 and December 2. This first year of a two-year kindergarten program is voluntary and provides families with an enriching option for early learning.

TK teachers focus on building early literacy, numeracy, and social skills through activities like dramatic play, music, art, and interactive games. Lessons are thoughtfully paced and developmentally appropriate, supporting growth across all domains: cognitive, physical, and social-emotional. With a balanced approach that fosters creativity, communication, and connection, our TK program prepares students to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.

OPEN ENROLLMENT-STUDENT TRANSFERS

Options for student transfers include intradistrict transfers, which allow students to transfer from school to school within our district, and interdistrict transfers, which allow students to transfer from one school district to another. We continue to allow students to attend schools outside of Tulare City School District, and we also accept students from other school districts. However, in order to maintain room for students residing within a school's attendance area, interdistrict and intradistrict transfers will be granted based on space availability (E.C. 48980).

If at any time during the year, you move to an area outside of your student’s current school of enrollment, you must fill out an intra-district transfer request within 10 days in order for your child to remain at his or her current school.
