The Advancement Via Individual Determination's (AVID) mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
Research shows that two years of middle school AVID has a positive impact on students' course-taking patterns and academic performance in high school. Who is the AVID Student?
Students with academic potential:
- Average to high test scores
- 2.0 - 3.5 GPA
- College potential with support
- Desire and determination
You also must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- First to attend college
- Historically underserved in four-year colleges
- Low income
- Special circumstances
AVID presupposes high school graduation and has university eligibility as its goal!
