Language Arts

Our English Language Arts curriculum embraces the California Common Core State Standards and 21st Century learning skills; collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication. We direct our students to explore the meaning behind literature and informational texts and to think how these will enrich their lives. Our students read and write, view and discuss, interpret and perform in order to deepen their understanding, communicate meaning, and apply their learning to other contexts.

Common Core State Standards

The adoption of the California Common Core State Standards shows a renewed commitment to ensure all California students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a global economy and technology-rich workplace, as responsible, actively engaged citizens. The goal is to foster each student’s ability to create innovative solutions to complex problems, providing the necessary college and career skills for success in the 21st Century.
