Independent Study Enrollment Options

TCSD Parent/Guardian, you have the option to enroll your child in the Tulare City School District’s Independent Study Program for the 2022-2023 school years.  Our Independent Study guidelines post-COVID-19 have changed a little in order to meet the guidelines set by state statute.  We will no longer be offering Short-term, Mid-term, and Long-term options for Independent Study.  Our options for the 2022-2023 school year is as follows:

Short-Term Independent Study:  For students who will not be able to attend in-person learning from a period of 3 school days to 15 school days.  This Independent Study is overseen by school administration and the work is gathered and corrected by the teacher of record upon the student’s return.

Long-Term Independent Study: For students who will not be able to attend in-person learning for a period of more than 15 school days.  Students will be referred to Vicki Stewart and/or Jennifer Marroquin to be placed in Long-term Independent Study.  Independent study will have synchronous and asynchronous instruction.  TK-3 grades will have 45 minutes of daily synchronous instruction and approximately 4 hours of asynchronous instruction.  4th-8th grade will have 45 minutes of daily live interaction with a teacher, and weekly synchronous instruction for 45 minutes.  In addition, there will be a minimum of 4 hours per day of asynchronous instruction assigned.

Please contact your school administrator to schedule a parent conference if you would like to enroll your child into the program or call Jennifer Marroquin at 559-685-7241 if you have questions about the program.
