School Libraries

Our school libraries are active learning hubs where students engage in research and collaboration, pursue individual reading and creative interests, and develop into lifelong learners.

Library Upgrades

We are in the process of updating and remodeling our libraries to better support our 21st-century students. We want our libraries to be used for a variety of purposes, so we are purchasing shelving and furniture that can easily be moved to accommodate many learning situations. This will allow for large group instruction, small group collaboration, and individual workspaces. Freshly painted walls, new carpeting, tile, counters, and cupboards are improvements that are being made on an as-needed basis to create warm and welcoming spaces for our students. As each school site is different, keep in mind that every library will also have its own unique character and charm.

Library Collection and Resources

Our school library is an important source of books for our students. As a district, we have over 193,519 print books on our library shelves, and over 6,300 ebooks available online. You can view all of our print and ebooks on our online library system, Destiny Discover. Our libraries also provide access to technology; students may use computers, Chromebooks, or iPads to complete research and class projects. Some sites also provide "Makerspaces" in the school library, where students may use materials and resources to design, plan, and build a variety of different creations.
